Artwork Specifications & Templates
We used to require artwork to be supplied using the process colours cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK), but using the RGB colour space for designing and printing produces a wider colour spectrum. Please read our colour management document: View Colour Management PDF
Resolution
Artwork for digital printing must be supplied at 300dpi at the actual size. Files that become too big (generally bigger than 300 megabytes), can be saved at 50 percent or at the very least 33 percent of their actual size, while keeping the resolution at 300dpi. Artwork for vinyl cutting and profile cutting must be supplied in vector format.
Formats
Formats that we can use for production, in order of preference:
- CorelDRAW X6 (.cdr)
- Encapsulated Postscript (.eps) (For vectors)
- Portable document format (.pdf)
- Tagged image file format (.tiff)
We cannot use any MS Office files for production. Artwork supplied in any of these formats will have to be recreated in CorelDRAW, which will incur artwork charges.
General
- Banner artwork must include a bleed of 40mm (if possible), and items that will be kiss-cut a bleed of approximately 3mm.
- Please use Dropbox, We transfer, Send transfer or any other uploading site to send files larger than 5megabytes. Send the links to art@mcbdesign.co.za.
- Fonts must be converted to curves.
- Indicate any specific spot colours using codes from Pantone Matching System (coated colours only) and supply us with a colour proof, especially in the event that photographs are used in the artwork.
- Supply deadlines. Work submitted without a realistic deadline will be put into production using the default deadline which varies according to size, quantity and the amount of work in the production queue.
- Supply a written order that clearly indicates material, quantity, size and any other specifications.
